Questions and multiple-choice answers about the case presented include the rationale for the correct answer. Throughout this case-based lesson, you may proceed to the next question once you answer the question correctly.
Learning Objectives
After completing this case the reader should be able to:
- List the diagnostic criteria for migraine without aura
- Summarize the current understanding of the pathophysiology of migraine
- Recognize when to start preventive treatment in a patient with migraine
- Describe the various classes of medicines that are used in migraine prevention
- Review options for acute treatment of migraine during pregnancy
- Identify key red flags that warrant further workup in a patient presenting with headache
