Questions and multiple-choice answers about the case presented include the rationale for the correct answer. Learning Objectives
After completing this case the reader should be able to:
- Define vitamin D deficiency based on serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels.
- Identify the risk factors and common causes of vitamin D deficiency.
- Identify clinical manifestations of vitamin D deficiency.
- Order the appropriate tests to diagnose and evaluate the causes of vitamin D deficiency.
- Treat a patient with vitamin D deficiency.
