Abstract Submission Guidelines

You are invited to submit an abstract on nursing research or a non-research project in relation to cardiac, thoracic, vascular, or critical and acute care for consideration in the poster session.  Non-research posters should address clinical projects, novel programs, evidence based practice (EBP), or a solution to meet the needs of cardiac, thoracic, vascular, or critical and acute care patients, families or the teams who care for these patients. Primary poster authors may include nurses, advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), and any program level nursing student (i.e. BSN, DNP etc.). A panel of nurses and advanced practice nurses will review submissions.

Deadline

Abstract submission must be received no later than August 30, 2024. You will be notified of acceptance by September 20, 2024, via e-mail. Abstracts must be submitted by e-mail to Monica Cummins MSN, APRN, ACCNS-AG, PCCN [email protected] and Daelle Waldron Gearhart MSN, RN [email protected].

Poster Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts not conforming to the stated requirements below will not be reviewed and will be returned to sender.
  • Each abstract should be single spaced and fit on one page (not to exceed 250 words)
  • Black type using a 12 pt font size and 1" margins.
  • Do not include charts or graphs.
  • Research abstracts must include: Title, problem statement, aims, methods (design, subjects, setting, variables, and interventions, if applicable), results, and implications for nursing. Bold type the title of each section. (not to exceed 250 words)
  • Non-research abstracts must include: Title, purpose, background, methods (project description, goals), results, and implications for nursing. Bold type the title of each section. (not to exceed 250 words)
  • For submission of the abstract, please also include the following at the beginning of the document: Use a left justified margin for title and text, do not indent. Type the title in capital letters. Immediately after the title, list the last name and first initial of the authors. List the institution of the first author after the last author. Omit degrees and titles. Follow institutional name with city and state
    • Example: NOVEL APPROACHES TO PATIENT CARE. Jones, J., Smith, N., Any Hospital, Cleveland, OH.
  • Leave the next line blank. Begin the abstract left-justified on the next line.
  • A single cover sheet must accompany the above abstract copy that includes: Title, author(s) name, credentials, professional affiliation/job title, address, telephone number; type of abstract you are submitting (research, clinical project, novel programs, EBP, or a solution); author category (nurse, APRN, or nursing student) and abstract category (cardiac, thoracic, vascular, critical, or acute care)

Poster Presentations

If your abstract is accepted, please note the following:

  • Posters will be tacked onto a mounting board. No tables will be available for tabletop poster displays. Poster should be 36”w x 24”h (3’ x 2’ landscape) or less in size.
  • A final PDF copy of the poster needs to be submitted to Daelle Waldron Gearhart MSN, RN [email protected] by October 25, 2024.
  • Poster set up is available on Sunday November 10th between 12:00pm-4:30pm.
  • A minimum of one poster author must be in attendance at the conference and be present during the poster viewing sessions noted below.
  • Authors, external to Cleveland Clinic, will receive a 25% discount off of both the full and daily registration fees.
  • Cleveland Clinic authors will pay the full Cleveland Clinic employee rate.
  • Undergraduate student authors, whose posters are accepted, will receive complimentary registration to the conference.
