Description |
During the Fibroid Summit 2008, Dr. Elizabeth Stewart presented "MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound: A Fibroid-Specific Therapy," which was captured and repurposed into a webcast. The MR-guided focused ultrasound therapy presentation will describe the technology, appropriate indications, efficacy, and side effects of this therapy, which has the potential to improve the clinical care of a specific patient population of women with uterine fibroids resulting in improved outcomes in a substantial population of women. |
Objectives |
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Analyze the clinical trial findings, outcomes data, and evidence-based guidelines supporting the use of MR-guided focused ultrasound for treating symptomatic uterine fibroids.
- Describe the technical advances in MR imaging that form the basis for MR-guided focused ultrasound.
- Compare and contrast the efficacy and side effects of MR-guided ultrasound versus thermally ablative therapy, myolysis, and hysterectomy.
