Description

The Cleveland Clinic presents Rheumatology Highlights, a series of key scientific presentations from annual rheumatology meetings in 2008. Clinical experts attended these meetings and selected the most significant highlights of the scientific and clinic sessions/abstracts.

Objectives

After completing this learning activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Summarize results from the most recently published biologic studies and clinical trials and assess their impact on clinical practice.
  2. Review the data addressing the use of nonbiologic DMARD therapy in RA treatment models.
  3. List the most important advances in basic science and describe how they affect current knowledge of genetic models.
  4. Discuss the newest research as it relates to the impact of rheumatoid arthritis on cardiovascular disease.
  5. Describe the association of lupus erythematosus on renal and cardiovascular disease as well as vitamin D levels.
  6. Evaluate the data regarding the safety and efficacy of biologic use in specific patient populations.
Target Audience

Rheumatologists and other health care professionals managing patients with rheumatologic diseases.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
