Approximately 36 million surgical procedures are performed annually in the United States at an annual cost of nearly $450 billion. Among healthcare professionals, awareness of recently published clinical trial evidence and innovations in medical therapies and their implications for perioperative clinical practice are important factors related to improving surgical outcomes. |
