Description

Learning Objectives

1. Discuss the new HIV screening guidelines from CDC.
2. Recognize acute retroviral syndrome and occupational post exposure prophylaxis.
3. Review opportunistic infection prophylaxis and lipid screening in HIV infected patients.
4. Review current recommendations for starting antiretroviral therapy based on CD4+ counts.
5. Explain the recommended vaccines for HIV infected patients.
6. Discuss the current practice in the prevention of mother to child HIV transmission.
