Overview

The Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education and the Endocrinology and Metabolism Institute presents the 14th Annual Endocrinology & Metabolism Board Review 2011. This educational activity will provide participants with an intensive review of endocrinology and metabolism that is also helpful as preparation for the endocrine board certification examination.

This activity is co-sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Target Audience

Directed to practicing endocrinologists and other physicians with an interest in endocrinology, metabolism, and diabetes.

Objectives

As a result of attending this Board Review, the participant will be able to do the following:

  • Describe diabetes control and complications;
  • Interpret tests to evaluate hypo- and hyperadrenalism and apply the results to endocrine hypertension;
  • Analyze thyroid tests and apply results to thyroid disorder management;
  • Review evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis and calcium disorders;
  • Appraise patients with hypogonadism and pituitary disorders;
  • Diagnose important pediatric endocrine disorders;
  • Evaluate endocrine disorders during pregnancy;
  • Identify genetic disorders in endocrinology;
  • Discuss the indications and consequences of new interventional therapeutic procedures;
  • Simulate board certification questions and answers.

Accreditation

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 23.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Participants claiming CME credit from this activity may submit the credit hours to the American Osteopathic Association Council on Continuing Medical Education for Category 2 credit.

The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept at face value the number of contact hours awarded for an educational activity that has been approved for CE by a nationally accredited system of CE approval. Therefore, the 23.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ will be accepted for nursing credits.
