2010 Heart-Brain Summit

September 23-24, 2010

Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health
Las Vegas, Nevada

Description

The Heart-Brain connection is now a topic of great interest to researchers from multiple disciplines. We now have scientific evidence from more than 100 studies showing stress and depression are prevalent in populations with cardiovascular disease, are predictive of developing cardiovascular disease and are predictive of adverse outcomes among patients with existing cardiac disease.

Understanding the relationship between depression and heart disease is critical. Furthering our understanding of this physiology could lead to a better understanding of many other chronic diseases and the development of novel therapies resulting in improved patient outcomes. Several lines of evidence suggest that in depth investigation in the area of heart-brain medicine will yield significant results.

The purpose of this Summit is to obtain insights from key opinion leaders to increase our understanding of these heart-brain interactions and hear updates in the field. Health care professionals will learn of recent discoveries that relate to new treatments for cardiovascular and nervous system disorders and assess their implications for clinical practice.
