Description
New developments in diagnosis of vestibular disorders, including superior semicircular canal dehiscence, will be reviewed, as well as practical office based diagnostic and treatment strategies for common vestibular disorders such as Meniere’s syndrome, vestibular neuritis and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Canalith repositioning maneuvers and rehabilitation strategies will be demonstrated and discussed in detail. The differentiation of central from peripheral causes of dizziness, and current treatment strategies for migraine associated vertigo are included topics. Vestibular laboratory testing will be reviewed and a tour of the CCF vestibular laboratory is an option.
Target Audience
Vestibular Update 2009 is designed for the practicing primary care provider, otolaryngologist, neurologist, rehabilitation specialist and others with interest in vestibular disorders.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Perform and interpret vestibular testing;
- Describe vestibular test applications to clinical problems;
- Perform repositioning maneuvers for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
