Pulmonary Hypertension Summit 2009
Translating Discoveries Into Patient Care
November 20-21, 2009
InterContinental Hotel & Bank of America Conference Center
Cleveland, Ohio

Overview
The Pulmonary Hypertension Summit brings together leaders in the field of pulmonary hypertension to discuss recent advances and future directions of medical care in this area.
The Summit will highlight disease mechanisms and pathophysiology, the diagnosis, evaluation, and medical management of the patient with pulmonary hypertension.
Expert speakers will present the recent advances in the context of challenges faced by physicians and other health care providers caring for these patients. Practical aspects of patient management will be covered using a case-based discussion format.
Target Audience
This educational activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, and nurses with an interest in pulmonary disorders, rheumatologic diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. The case-based and practical approach of the sessions will make this extremely relevant for internal medicine and primary care physicians.
Patients who suffer from pulmonary hypertension will find the didactic sessions to be informative. There will be patient-focused question and answer sessions about issues relevant to the concerns of PH patients such as dietary restrictions, travel, and medication management. These sessions will offer ample opportunity to clarify issues regarding patient care.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the attendee will be able to do the following:
- Describe advances in the management of pulmonary hypertension.
- Determine when to suspect pulmonary hypertension and how to diagnose it.
- Explain the current approach to pulmonary hypertension in the presence of associated or underlying disease(s).
- Create a case-based approach to the practical aspects of pulmonary hypertension management.
