  • Describe the pathophysiology of hepatic encephalopathy;
  • Identify cognitive and motor impairment associated with minimal hepatic encephalopathy.
  • Discuss the legal responsibilities of health care professionals caring for the impaired patient.
  • Appreciate emerging strategies to limit impairment in those with minimal hepatic encephalopathy.

  • Review the applicability of non-surgical therapies for HCC, and selection criteria for liver transplantation.
  • Review emerging data on systemic therapy for unresectable liver cancer.
