Description

With ever-changing immunization schedules and increasing antibiotic resistance in the community, it creates a challenge to primary care practitioners. This CME activity will provide attendees with current concepts in infectious disease for immediate use in primary care medicine.

Our featured speakers include two outstanding leaders in the field:

  • Steven Gordon, MD, Chair of Infectious Disease at the Cleveland Clinic,
  • Doug Campos-Outcalt, MD, American Academy of Family Medicine liaison to the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and to the United States Preventive Services Task Force.

Our goal is for you to acquire current, practical concepts in infectious disease including resources that will keep you on the forefront of outpatient prevention and management of infectious disease.

Target Audience

Internists, General Practitioners, Family Physicians, Infectious Disease Specialists, Women’s Health Professionals, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and other health care providers practicing in the primary care outpatient setting.

Objectives

After completing this learning activity, the participant will be able to do the following:

  • Describe new, established, and current concepts in both adolescent and adult immunizations.
  • Describe current concepts in travel immunizations including prescription guidelines and referral recommendations.
  • Discuss current treatment options for sexually transmitted diseases; community acquired
    C. difficile, MRSA infection, urinary tract infections, and pneumonia.
  • Define upper respiratory infections that do not require antibiotics.

Accreditation

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Participants claiming CME credit from this activity may submit the credit hours to the American Osteopathic Association Council on Continuing Medical Education for Category 2 credit.

The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept at face value the number of contact hours awarded for an educational activity that has been approved for CE by a nationally accredited system of CE approval. Therefore the 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits will be accepted for nursing credits. Nurses from other states should contact their State Board of Nursing.

Pre-registrations are accepted by fax or online until 4:00 pm ET, July 6, 2009. To register after this date, you must do so on-site.

In case of cancellation, a full refund will be made if cancelled by June 26, 2009. After June 26, 2009, a $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund. Written notification of your cancellation is required to process your refund.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER JULY 31, 2009.
