Overview

This bi-annual Society for Hematopathology and European Association for Haematopathology Workshop will focus on the spectrum of immunoproliferative disorders and the border between B-cell lymphoma and plasma cell neoplasms.

The discussions will cover the morphologic, immunophenotypic, genetic, molecular, and clinical characteristics of neoplasms that often have plasmacytoid differentiation and are associated with paraproteins. An emphasis will be placed on diagnostic and classification criteria.

Course Objectives

As a result of attending the workshop, the participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the spectrum of plasmacytic maturation of B-cell lymphomas and problems in overlap between one another and plasma cell neoplasms.
  • Diagnose lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma/Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia and differentiate it from:
    • Plasma cell neoplasms
    • Marginal zone lymphoma with paraprotein
    • CLL/SLL with paraprotein
  • Recognize the clinicopathologic spectrum of plasmablastic lymphoma and plasmacytoma.
  • List the phenotypic, molecular, and genetic features of these diagnostic categories.
