Description
This webcast is intended to provide health care practitioners caring for patients at risk for hepatic encephalopathy with an update on the latest research on the pathogenesis and its effect on management strategies, with the overall goal of enhancing patient care and, ultimately, outcomes. Segments include Ethical and Legal Obligations When Caring for a Medically Impaired Driver and Driving with Hepatic Encephalopathy.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
- Describe the pathophysiology of hepatic encephalopathy.
- Identify cognitive and motor impairments associated with minimal hepatic encephalopathy.
- Discuss the legal responsibilities of health care professionals caring for patients with cognitive and motor impairments.
- Summarize strategies to limit impairments in patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy.
Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and health care professionals involved in the care of patients with cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy.
