This webcast is part of the inaugural effort of the Joslin Diabetes Center and Cleveland Clinic partnership. These two institutions, which are among the largest and most respected academic providers of CME, believe that the most reach and impact can be achieved in continuing medical education through innovative collaboration. By combining the institutions’ world-class clinical care protocols and cutting-edge knowledge in both diabetes and cardiac care, this partnership is able to engender the largest reach more efficiently and effectively.

It is well known that patients with diabetes and the cardiometabolic syndrome are at increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease. With the increased prevalence of the cardiometabolic syndrome and its comorbidities, the need to optimize preventive and therapeutic interventions is a major focus of most clinicians in primary care. Clinicians need to recognize the signs and symptoms of the cardiometabolic syndrome and initiate early and effective preventive interventions. However, timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment are equally as important to reduce eventual morbidity and mortality.
