Description
Adrenal disorders can be challenging due to the nature of the clinical presentation. Individual adrenal pathologies have significant differences in management. Despite the more frequent discovery of an incidental adrenal mass with the widespread use of imaging studies such as ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, the management algorithm varies between different practices. The difficulty of exposure to a variety of adrenal disorders is a main reason for this difference.
Furthermore, there have been significant changes in the surgical management of adrenal tumors after the introduction of laparoscopic techniques in the 1990s and robotic technology in the 2000s which affect quality of care for the patients.
This half day program will review principles of management for individual adrenal disorders. The experts will highlight recent advances in the medical and surgical fields to determine the standard of care for adrenal patients. This course will be interactive with case presentations and ample time for discussion and questions.
Target Audience
Endocrinologists, nephrologists and internal medicine physicians.
Objectives
At the completion of the Summit, attendees will be able to:
- Describe the state-of-the-art management of adrenal incidentalomas.
- Discuss caveats in management of individual adrenal pathologies
- Discuss the optimal preoperative preparation of individual adrenal pathologies
- Discuss the evolving trends in surgical management
- Discuss the causes of and the management for adrenal hypertension.
