Overview
The conference focuses on current and future techniques in gynecologic surgery including minimally invasive therapies, robotics, prolapse, and urinary incontinence as well as other surgical innovations. This program will have a faculty of clinical experts present evidence-based lectures on topics specifically selected to achieve the stated learning objectives and close the identified educational gaps for the intended target audience. The conference includes a one-day session that covers the radiologic, surgical, and medical therapies for the management of uterine fibroids and menstrual disorders.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
- Summarize the evidence-based guidelines supporting the use of UFE and MRI-guided focused ultrasound for treating symptomatic uterine fibroids;
- Describe the technical procedures for performing UFE and MRI-guided focused ultrasound;
- List the appropriate diagnostic work-up and imaging tests for patients with menstrual disorders and symptomatic fibroids;
- Review newer medical management options for treating abnormal uterine bleeding;
- Compare and contrast the risks and benefits associated with minimally invasive and uterine-sparing therapies for uterine fibroids and menstrual disorders;
- Formulate the appropriate triage of patients who would benefit from hysteroscopic, laparoscopic, or open surgery for fibroids and bleeding disorders;
- Describe the novel and innovative approaches in gynecologic surgery and define their most
appropriate indications; - List the potential complications of gynecologic surgery and describe methods for their prevention
and management; - Discuss the current surgical management of patients with gynecologic malignancies;
- Compare and contrast traditional and innovative approaches in the management of female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
Target Audience
